Time does fly and January feels like it was yesterday yet next January is less than a month away. It’s been a busy year at PromptCloud and also a remarkable one as far as the big data industry goes. Data continues to disrupt the way technology works and is helping build new and innovative applications that would become part of our everyday life.
Many things have changed during this year and the one we’re most excited about is indeed the amount of data available on the web – it has increased by about 16.3 Zettabytes during this year.
In 2017, we’ve had the privilege of helping more businesses access this goldmine of data available on the web for building new products and augmenting their business intelligence strategies among countless other use cases. Here is a look back at 2017 and how things have changed at PromptCloud. Spoiler: it was fun!

With our growing team size and the need for more space, we upgraded our office space by adding another floor with a cool pantry and break area.
We had a team dinner at Onesta where we had lots of fun with stories, jokes and laughter over delicious food.
Our team won the BCIC cricket tournament by Play Factory and brought home the cup.

We have been contributing free datasets to the popular big data communities like Kaggle and Dataworld. These datasets are used by data science enthusiasts to create data visualizations, train machine learning systems and build applications.
We recently attended the Big Data Asia Conference and presented our paper on using web data for business growth in the travel domain.
We completely revamped our website to give it a fresh new look. The user experience has significantly improved and it simply looks great! Go to the homepage to check it out.
We’ve been constantly making performance enhancements to our web crawling infrastructure. Among the notable ones are the speed boost attained in crawl timing and development of the self-service feature on CrawlBoard.
We delivered 23% more records in 2017 as compared to 2016. With the performance upgrades we do from time to time, handling massive amounts of data has become easier and seamless.
We’ve been adding new value-rich products to our portfolio and JobsPikr and DataStock are the two new entrants to the group. JobsPikr is a job data delivery platform primarily meant for businesses in the recruitment domain while DataStock caters to the increasing need for clean and ready-to-use datasets by businesses in the AI, research and analytics industries.
Overall, 2017 has been an eventful year filled with work, fun and data. We’re looking forward to making web data more accessible in 2018. Happy holidays!
