MCU’s latest movie Avengers Endgame broke the box office record of James Cameron’s Avatar, making it the highest-grossing film of all time. The film made a whopping USD 2.788 billion, taking it to the top spot on the all-time box office list. This got us thinking about doing some analyses on the IMDB data for all Marvel Cinematic Universe movies released till date. Let’s get right into the insights we dug out from this data visualization project.

Budget vs review rating

There seems to be a clear positive correlation between budget and the rating left by the reviewers for the MCU movies. The correlation coefficient for budget vs review rating was found to be 0.67.

Avengers: Endgame (2019) had a budget of 356 million US dollars and got the highest rating of 8.8 among all the Marvel movies. This trend is confirmed by the second highest-rated movie Avengers: Infinity War (2018), which is also the MCU movie with the second highest budget.

Other popular locations include Los Angeles, Surrey, and Fayetteville. USA, UK, Canada, and Australia are the only countries where MCU movies have been shot so far. As expected, the USA is indeed the country where most of the Marvel superheroes came to life.
