I would recommand the Sagrada Familia room (where we stayed the last night). During my vacation I wanted to change rooms because of circumstances and they arranged it really easily in The Glory's Façade Guest House (Dali room), so we could sleep seperately, and they were really friendly. The price is cheap, you get towels and a nice breakfast, ready to take any moment you like. A nice stay, not in the commercial center (a bit further from Ramba etc), but easily reachable with metro, with very friendly hosts. Ideal for guests who are lost in giant hotels as anonymous travelers. The Madera has just 82 rooms, meaning only about 8 rooms on each floor and as result, they provide a very VIP experience to all guests lucky enough to be registered there. Think about it − only 82 guests get to call this place home on any given night! The rooms are rather enormous for standard size guest rooms in the city. Front facing rooms feature rather sizeable balconies too, and they overlook the picturesque neighborhood just south of Dupont Circle. Rooms in the rear, which my parents and inlaws had, are just as desirable although without balconies as they overlook the quiet West End and Georgetown. The hotel just finished a lobby renovation. The lobby has always been small but their renovation gives it a bigger feel. It's much more like walking into the entrance hall of a close friend's house the way they welcome you in and pour wine during wine hour. And just off to the left of the lobby is a splendid neighborhood restuarant, Firefly, where we ate breakfast but where I've haad lunch and dinner previously. Always busy, the restaurant never disappoints with its creative comfort food and respectable prices.I understand a room renovation is on its way. With its very contemporary decor, the hotel does not appear terribly aged so I can only marvel at what they will be doing in the rooms. Regardless, the Madera is an exceptional change of pace from enormous convention scale hotels you find in most cities. And with some staff that's been there since the hotel opened about a decade ago, you can bet if you keep coming back, they'll keep welcoming you back like you're family. 062 063 064 Room Tip: All rooms are huge, but if you like sleeping with fresh air, ask for a front facing baclony room.</comment> 065 <score>4 of 5 stars</score> 066 <message_url>http://www.tripadvisor.com/ShowUserReviews−g28970−d84115−r126177579−Madera_a_Kimpton_Hotel−Washington_DC_District_of_Columbia.html</message_url> 067 <hotel_id>g28970−d84115−Reviews−Madera_a_Kimpton_Hotel−Washington_DC_District_of_Columbia.html</hotel_id> 068 <product_id>g28970−d84115−Reviews−Madera_a_Kimpton_Hotel−Washington_DC_District_of_Columbia.html</product_id> 069 </message> 070 <message> 071 <author>bfly1</author> 072 <title>Excellent despite renovation, that says something</title> 073 <locality>Payson, Arizona</locality> 074 <date>2012−02−28T00:00:00Z</date> 075 <raw_date>February 28, 2012</raw_date> 076 <comment>In the interest of full disclosure, I got a great rate from a web service (and not by gambling on an unnamed hotel), with opportunity to cancel the reservation. I may therefore be prone to generosity, in the sense that I wasn't bothered by the fact that they were renovating the front desk and lobby over my visit. We had to enter the hotel through the restaurant (Firefly) and there was just a tiny podium where the service personnel checked us in and handled our needs. This might have bothered me if I was paying full rate. In any case, this was my first Kimpton experience and won't be my last, I'm sure. Madera satisfied the basic needs very well (good night's sleep, hot shower, clean room), but also has these small touches that are appreciated. For instance, on one cold blustery DC day, they had hot cider, spiced or spiked with bourbon, waiting for us by the front desk. A free glass of wine each evening. A coupon for some freebies from the mini−bar. I happened to get a room that magically had a recumbent bike with its own wall−mounted LCD TV. How did they know I like to do 15 miles on the bike now and then? 🙂 The service staff were very friendly and responsive to questions; my request for a quiet room was taken seriously, and the room fit the bill. In short, this is a first−class operation. Finally, Madera is run by the same company that run the highly−rated Palomar nearby. If you're weighing the two, Madera is a smaller hotel in a quieter location; its restaurant seems to be a bit more highly−rated. Palomar is closer to where the action is in Dupont Circle, and they have a large, fabulous lobby (don't know about their rooms...). 077 078 079 Room Tip: If you want quiet, probably want to be away from the elevator. Just ask.</comment> 080 <score>5 of 5 stars</score> 081 <message_url>http://www.tripadvisor.com/ShowUserReviews−g28970−d84115−r126177579−Madera_a_Kimpton_Hotel−Washington_DC_District_of_Columbia.html</message_url> 082 <hotel_id>g28970−d84115−Reviews−Madera_a_Kimpton_Hotel−Washington_DC_District_of_Columbia.html</hotel_id> 083 <product_id>g28970−d84115−Reviews−Madera_a_Kimpton_Hotel−Washington_DC_District_of_Columbia.html</product_id> 084 </message> 085 <message> 086 <author>wanderful007</author> 087 <title>Wonderful stay and customer service!</title> 088 <locality>Cleveland, Ohio</locality> 089 <date>2012−02−27T00:00:00Z</date> 090 <raw_date>February 27, 2012</raw_date> 091 <comment>We stayed here for a weekend getaway to DC. On the way there we called and asked if there was a room available if we were to begin our stay a day earlier, Thursday. There was and they even upgraded us to a cardio room. We were excited because there is no fitness cenetr at this location, you have to walk to the Palomar 3 blocks away. I get up early (4:30) and didn't want to be walking around at that time of morning so this was perfect.I requested a room on an upper floor and we got one on the 8th, though it is on the side of the hotel not overlooking New Hampshire it still had continual noise from the elevator running up and down all night. It didn't bother my husband, but I am a light sleeper so I was aware of it. The room was very clean, large TV that you can see from cardio equipment area. The room had a workdesk with power strip for charging phones, laptops, etc. No problem with additional outlets throughout. The vanity is outside the bathroom, not much space for storing toiletries, but the closet is adjacent so we used the shelf in there and that worked well. The lobby was undergoing renovation so we took the evening wine to our room and enjoyed that while we planned the evening plans. There is an illy cafe 2 blocks away, at the Renaissance and we would go there for our espresso, though Madera offers coffee and tea to it's guests in the morning. We had breakfast at Teaism on the first morning, delicious scrambled eggs with cilantro and ginger and also the oatmeal. The following mornings we ate at Le Pain Quotidien, my husband got an omelette one morning that was wonderful and served with some of their hearth baked bread and a small salad. They also have wonderful organic jams on the tables and various belgian spread (chocolate, hazelnut).Should also mention Filter for espresso, the best in Dupont Circle, just a bit further away and opens later than illy. But Filter is the best we had in D.C.The restaurant in the hotel looked good and certianly would get busy in the late morning and the evening but we wanted to try some other spots. There are a lot to choose from within walking distance. Must try Levantes for their Turkish pide, similar to a flatbread, baked in a wood fired oven. And the warm bread they bring to the table from that same oven is delicious.Customer service is stellar at the hotel. They must have a wonderful training program for their employees. Everyone knows Disney is reknowned for service, but Kimpton has right to brag in that regard as well. Every person was lovely, and genuinely seemed to care that your stay was the best it could be. Fernando who works in the front (bags, valet, many tasks!) is a sweetheart. He gave us a warm welcome, was a pleasure to talk to when we returned each day, and gave us an equally warm send off−−even a hug goodbye! Atilla was familiar with the route we needed to go home and stopped us as we were leaving to review our directions and be sure we were on the right course. We will be back here and to other Kimpton Hotels!I didn't give it 5 stars only because there was no place to gather with the lobby being renovated. Probably could have in the restaurant but I didn't want to take a table when I wasn't dining. 092 093 094 Room Tip: Farther away from an elevator if you are a light sleeper. Cardio rooms are spacious.</comment> 095 <score>4 of 5 stars</score> 096 <message_url>http://www.tripadvisor.com/ShowUserReviews−g28970−d84115−r126177579−Madera_a_Kimpton_Hotel−Washington_DC_District_of_Columbia.html</message_url> 097 <hotel_id>g28970−d84115−Reviews−Madera_a_Kimpton_Hotel−Washington_DC_District_of_Columbia.html</hotel_id> 098 <product_id>g28970−d84115−Reviews−Madera_a_Kimpton_Hotel−Washington_DC_District_of_Columbia.html</product_id> 099 </message> 100 </page> 101 <page> 102 <pageurl>http://www.tripadvisor.com/ShowUserReviews−g28970−d84115−r127032591−Madera_a_Kimpton_Hotel−Washington_DC_District_of_Columbia.html</pageurl> 103 <message> 104 <author>adventurer26</author> 105 <title>Love Kimpton Hotels!</title> 106 <locality>Southeadstern Mass</locality> 107 <date>2012−03−31T00:00:00Z</date> 108 <raw_date>March 31, 2012</raw_date> 109 <comment>Husband and I stayed at the Madera for 3 nights. This was a leisure trip.We enjoyed the Firefly for breakfast, friendly and efficient waitstaff. We had a clean bright room but the bathroom area, toilet and shower so tight, good thing we are not tall or chubby people. I kept banging my arm on the door. They should have put in pocket doors, might help with the space. We love the location, walked to everything in DC, but also ate at a few nice restaurants with dessert. So much for any weight loss. Our view was eh,but we were there for the cherry blossoms and sightseeing. We had questions for the front desk staff very attentive and cheery.Four stars because of the view and arm bumping i experience almost every time I uses the bathroom.I would definitely return to the Madera in the future.</comment> 110 <score>4 of 5 stars</score> 111 <message_url>http://www.tripadvisor.com/ShowUserReviews−g28970−d84115−r127032591−Madera_a_Kimpton_Hotel−Washington_DC_District_of_Columbia.html</message_url> 112 113 114 </message> 115 </page> 116 <page> 117 <pageurl>http://www.tripadvisor.com/ShowUserReviews−g28970−d84115−r127075391−Madera_a_Kimpton_Hotel−Washington_DC_District_of_Columbia.html</pageurl> 118 <message> 119 <author>Calif0rniadreamers</author> 120 <title>Quirky and fun!</title> 121 <locality>San Francisco, CA</locality> 122 <date>2012−04−01T00:00:00Z</date> 123 <raw_date>April 1, 2012</raw_date> 124 <comment>We stayed at this hotel because of the Trip Advisor recommendations. True that there's no real lobby, but the rooms are spacious, decorated in a fun, unusual way, and quiet. The receptionist had obviously read our requests in the reservation, as she repeated them when we were checking in. We liked the wine hour in the late afternoon. The one suggestion is−−it would be nice to be able to make coffee in the room. Getting dressed to go downstairs to get coffee is a bit too much trouble.</comment> 125 <score>5 of 5 stars</score> 126 <message_url>http://www.tripadvisor.com/ShowUserReviews−g28970−d84115−r127075391−Madera_a_Kimpton_Hotel−Washington_DC_District_of_Columbia.html</message_url> 127 128 129 </message> 130 </page> 131 <page> 132 <pageurl>http://www.tripadvisor.com/ShowUserReviews−g28970−d84115−r127160554−Madera_a_Kimpton_Hotel−Washington_DC_District_of_Columbia.html</pageurl> 133 <message> 134 <author>50onthego</author> 135 <title>Extraordinary Service −− Great Hotel</title> 136 <locality>50onthego</locality> 137 <date>2012−04−02T00:00:00Z</date> 138 <raw_date>April 2, 2012</raw_date> 139 <comment>Loved this place! Very modern decor...of which I am not usually a fan, but this is done with talent and skill and is a pleasure to participate in. The room was VERY large, with very comfortable beds, and a large comfortable couch. The balcony was an especially nice place to sit out and enjoy the surrounding architecture of Dupont Circle and to get some fresh air. The location is undeniably one of the best for easy access to anything in D.C. proper...from the mall, to Foggy Bottom, to Georgetown, Capitol Hill etc. (Keeping in mind that, due to D.C. traffic, even a 5 mile trip is going to take too much travel time.)But the service....they are such lovely young people tending to the lobby desk. They jump up to help you at every opportunity, and are just so nice, down to earth, eager to please....friendly. They are the stars of this hotel. They are what pushes it over the top for me.My son lives in D.C. We wanted to be in the Dupont Circle area and this fit the bill. The hotel room was very large with a balcony −− so nice to open the door and get the fresh air. My only draw back was the size of the bathroom with the shower/tub and toilet −− it couldn't have been any smaller −− I know you don't need to spend much time there but it was tight. Staff were very helpful. You can get to the Dupont Circle metro −− only the 19th street entrance is closed so you have to go to the 20th street one on the northern side of the circle. Foggy Bottom metro is an option as well but a little longer walk. Firefly restaurant is downstairs and a nice restaurant −− however there are lots of options around the area. Bread and Brew was very good for a sandwich and the bagel place across from Hotel Palomar is excellent −− both where the locals eat. I would stay there again. Also wireless internet is free when become a Kimpton member. Only negative was room wasn't ready when we got there and they said they would call when ready, but didn't −− not a big negative but a text would have been nice.</comment> 155 <score>4 of 5 stars</score> 156 <message_url>http://www.tripadvisor.com/ShowUserReviews−g28970−d84115−r127604985−Madera_a_Kimpton_Hotel−Washington_DC_District_of_Columbia.html</message_url> 157 158 159 </message> 160 </page> 161 <page> 162 <pageurl>http://www.tripadvisor.com/ShowUserReviews−g29092−d78851−r127809252−Disneyland_Hotel−Anaheim_California.html</pageurl> 163 <message> 164 <author>Alamarco</author> 165 <title>An Unforgettable Trip</title> 166 <locality>Edmonton, Canada</locality> 167 <date>2012−04−13T00:00:00Z</date> 168 <raw_date>April 13, 2012 169 NEW</raw_date> 170 <comment>We stayed at the Disneyland Resort during our trip to Disneyland. It is TOTALLY worth it to stay on property−− as long as you get a room when they are not $400/night. 😉 The pool is great, the restaurants are great and the location can't be beat for Disney. Normally we stay at the Grand California but I feel that the rooms there are a bit tired. Was reticent about the Disneyland Hotel as it is a bit further from the Park. In the end, the walk through Downtown Disney or taking the Monorail into Disneyland was no big deal. The pools at the hotel are amazing. MUCH better than the Grand California. My 4,10 and 12 year old children all had something to do at the pool. Also, the new casual restaurant was excellent. The Chinese chicken salad as well as the kid's salmon were great. Highly recommend the Disneyland Hotel. My only complaint was that the air vent blew directly on the bed which was a problem.</comment> 203 <score>5 of 5 stars</score> 204 <message_url>http://www.tripadvisor.com/ShowUserReviews−g29092−d78851−r127932900−Disneyland_Hotel−Anaheim_California.html</message_url> 205 <hotel_id>g29092−d78851−Reviews−Disneyland_Hotel−Anaheim_California.html</hotel_id> 206 <product_id>g29092−d78851−Reviews−Disneyland_Hotel−Anaheim_California.html</product_id> 207 </message> 208 </page> 209 <page> 210 <pageurl>http://www.tripadvisor.com/ShowUserReviews−g29092−d78851−r128028287−Disneyland_Hotel−Anaheim_California.html</pageurl> 211 <message> 212 <author>Brett T</author> 213 <title>Great Time!</title> 214 <locality>Orem, Utah</locality> 215 <date>2012−04−17T00:00:00Z</date> 216 <raw_date>April 17, 2012 217 NEW</raw_date> 218 <comment>Disney has recently remodeled the Disneyland Hotel and it is great! The hotel is steps away from Downtown Disney and the Monorail.</comment> 219 <score>4 of 5 stars</score> 220 <message_url>http://www.tripadvisor.com/ShowUserReviews−g29092−d78851−r128028287−Disneyland_Hotel−Anaheim_California.html</message_url> 221 <hotel_id>g29092−d78851−Reviews−Disneyland_Hotel−Anaheim_California.html</hotel_id> 222 <product_id>g29092−d78851−Reviews−Disneyland_Hotel−Anaheim_California.html</product_id> 223 </message> 224 </page> 225 <page> 226 <pageurl>http://www.tripadvisor.com/ShowUserReviews−g29092−d78851−r128062453−Disneyland_Hotel−Anaheim_California.html</pageurl> 227 <message> 228 <author>PTApresident</author> 229 <title>Newly "charming" remodel</title> 230 <locality>Mill Creek, Washington</locality> 231 <date>2012−04−17T00:00:00Z</date> 232 <raw_date>April 17, 2012 233 NEW</raw_date> 234 <comment>This is our fourth visit to a Disneyland hotel (Grand, Paradise Pier, Aulani) and our second favorite (Hard to beat Aulani)! My daughter was charmed by the headboard fireworks and music, and played it many times during our two day stay. Fireworks visible from the park in our bedroom were perfect, since we did not go into the park our first day. The pool was enjoyed by all! Just a short wait on the "super cool" waterside (in the words of a 9yr old non−adventurist). LOVED all the retro Disney touches, which is my absolute favorite era of Disney. From the huge original map in the entrance, the tea cup seats in the lobby, disney carpets and lamps, it was classically displayed. Thanks to early entrance (both parks − make sure to get your fast pass to WOC), monorail and Downtown Disney access. We were able to enjoy every minute our our stay and were especially thankful for the comfy beds, bedding and super dark curtains. We definitely enjoyed Disney magic at the newly remodeled hotel. 235 236 237 Room Tip: Ask for the Fantasy Tower with view of nighttime fireworks.</comment> 238 <score>5 of 5 stars</score> 239 <message_url>http://www.tripadvisor.com/ShowUserReviews−g29092−d78851−r128062453−Disneyland_Hotel−Anaheim_California.html</message_url> 240 <hotel_id>g29092−d78851−Reviews−Disneyland_Hotel−Anaheim_California.html</hotel_id> 241 <product_id>g29092−d78851−Reviews−Disneyland_Hotel−Anaheim_California.html</product_id> 242 </message> 243 </page> 244 </root> 245
